Hi, amazing you!

As early as your mid-20s, your skin’s natural collagen production decreases. As we age, we can strengthen the skin from within through proper nutrition and from the outside with carefully selected skincare products.

Today, I will talk about different types of peptides and how they can help your skin retain its youthful appearance longer.

But first…

I am so grateful for the opportunity to educate women in skincare and help them create their dream lives. I share how diet, relationships, thoughts, and lifestyle affect the skin. Additionally, I show you how to work from anywhere and earn money, bringing both freedom and joy!

Now, let’s move on to this week’s topic – peptides!

Peptides are especially effective for preventing premature aging and serve as crucial support for the skin’s barrier.

Peptides are excellent ingredients for strengthening your skin’s barrier, promoting collagen production, and improving skin texture. They work best in combination with other skincare ingredients like Vitamin C, amino acids, hyaluronic acid, and antioxidants.

What are Peptides?

Peptides are chains of amino acids linked together by peptide bonds. Amino acids are the building blocks of proteins, which are vital for the health of skin, hair, and nails. Proteins like collagen, elastin, and keratin are also vital for the health of the body.

There are different types of peptides, each with unique properties and functions. Peptides are often found in creams and serums formulated for mature skin requiring extra barrier support.

Why are Peptides So Special?

Peptides act as messengers for the skin, signaling cells to produce more collagen, elastin, and keratin. They can also inhibit aging-related enzymes in the skin that break down these essential proteins, helping to reduce fine lines and wrinkles.

Note: If you have sensitive skin, irritation, or inflammation, you should be cautious before trying skincare products with peptides. Always use organic products to avoid synthetic substances that can negatively affect your body.

Different Types of Peptides and Their Functions

1. Copper Peptides

These increase skin elasticity and firmness.

2. Palmitoyl Oligopeptide

It promotes collagen and hyaluronic acid production and protects the skin from UV damage. Palmitoyltetrapeptide-7 can also reduce inflammation and is beneficial for sensitive skin.

3. Hexapeptides

Acetyl hexapeptide-3 inhibits the release of neurotransmitters, preventing facial muscles from creating wrinkles. It can also reduce the visible effects of fine lines.

4. Pentapeptides

The first peptide shown to have skin-enhancing benefits when applied topically. Palmitoylpentapeptide-3 stimulates collagen production.

Foods to Boost Your Body’s Peptide Production

To support your body’s production of peptides—and thus collagen, elastin, and keratin—it’s essential to include the following nutrients in your diet:

Amino Acids
Quinoa, chia seeds, pumpkin seeds, lentils, beans, and peas contain these, which are the building blocks for peptides and proteins.

Vitamin C
It helps with collagen synthesis and is found in citrus fruits, berries, bell peppers, broccoli, and kale.

Copper

It is essential for copper peptides, and it is found in nuts, seeds, mushrooms (especially shiitake), and cacao.

Zinc

Necessary for skin health and collagen production and is found in chickpeas, lentils, quinoa, nuts, and seeds, especially pumpkin seeds.

By including these nutrients in your diet and choosing skincare products with the right peptides, you can optimize your skin’s health and maintain a youthful, radiant complexion!

Love, Johanna
