Hi!

Hope all is well with you!

I have noticed that a lot of people have started to workout after New Years, the gym is filled with people at 06:00 AM. 🙂 A lot of people want to work out to lose those extra pounds, but what is it that can make some people have it more difficult to lose weight?

– Now we have started to see how important it is with good bacteria.

Good bacteria can make you lose weight!

Everyday we are fed with tips and guides on how to lose weight with different exercises and diets on social media and in magazines, etc.

Today, a large part of Sweden’s population is overweight and a lot of people have difficulties with losing weight, no matter what they do. Stress is a major cause of this, as stress hormones stops the fat burning and now we have also seen that the microbiome, the 100 trillion microbes that live in your gut, play a crucial role whether you are overweight or not.

Unfortunately, the Western diet is an abundance of calories and contains little or no prebiotic fiber. If you eat a diet with prebiotic fiber, you favor the good bacteria, it is food for them. Prebiotics are complex carbohydrates that are not broken down by the body’s digestive enzymes and thus reach the large intestine. Your gut bacteria form short-chain fatty acids when fed with prebiotic food. Prebiotic foods can be found in miso, garlic, onions and Jerusalem artichoke, and if you eat these, it increases intestinal mobility, which reduces the risk of you putting on weight.

Intestinal bacteria produce chemicals that consist of short-chain fatty acids, and when activated, a signal path is formed that determines how much you will put on. We have two systems that work together, the hormone system and the microbiome (your good bacteria). These hormones warn the gut how much food is heading down. The gut bacteria play a big role when the information is passed on to the digestive system and how it acts on the food.

In the event of a disturbance, the signal may be absent, which may cause you not feeling full and eating more. It also affects the speed of the gut (how fast the food gets through), which is determined by how much weight you put on. If these short-chain fatty acids fail, you will simply have a lower fat burn. It has also been seen that the nutrient uptake is getting worse.

Where do you find good gut bacteria?
Unfortunately, many of the probiotic supplements that is sold on the market have no effect. Quality is extremely important and most of them are already destroyed by the acidic stomach acid. The best ones I know are the ones from Innate Respons and their Flora series, it works great! You can also benefit your health by eating probiotics in the form of kimchi and acidified vegetables, so you get a wide range of different strains.

Today our gut bacteria are counted as it´s own organ and it is just as important to take care of it as any other organ, if not better!

Here’s how to promote weight loss:

1. Eat prebiotic and probiotic foods and add them to your plate every day.

2. Exercise at least 30 minutes a day, with some heart rate-boosting activity.

3. Eat omega 3 and other good fats that benefit your hormones and your good bacteria.

4. Remove all fast carbohydrates, sugars and above all be observant on the hidden sugar. Corn syrup inhibits the hormone leptin which determines when you are saturated, causing you to overeat.

5. Perform mindfulness and deep in and out through the nose and far into the abdomen, at least 15 minutes a day. It causes your body to come to rest and you release less stress hormones that would otherwise prevent fat loss.
