Have you tried countless skin care products without getting the results you desire? The key to flawless glowing skin starts with a healthy diet. When you eat food packed with nutrients it helps create a healthy gut flora as well as balance your hormones. This in turn leads to glowing skin! Beauty truly comes from within!
Skin care products are of course helpful as well, if they are organic with only natural ingredients. It’s the combination you need, care from both the inside and outside.
Try my recommendations for a week and see if you feel a difference in your skin, I certainly do!
Below is a list of my recommendations for clearer, younger looking skin with less pores:
1. Vegetables
Vegetables are the foundation of beauty and they make sure the cells of the body thrive, as well as help balance the environment for the bacteria in your gut. They keep inflammation away and balance the gut flora, as they contain plenty of fiber. Cauliflower, kale, broccoli and arugula are all loaded with wonderful nutrients for your body and your skin. Add them at every meal as a salad filling at least half of your plate! Don’t forget to add healthy fats to your plate as well, such as avocado, nuts, olive oil etc.
2. Berries
Berries are full of antioxidants and many studies indicate they help prevent inflammation, cardiovascular disease and can also lower the risk of different forms of cancer. According to a study in the International Journal of Molecular Sciences, berries repair oxidative DNA damage.
When selecting berries, choose blueberries, blackberries and raspberries. They are packed with vitamins and fibers and can help lower oxidized (bad) cholesterol. Berries contain ellagic acid, which helps reduce breakdown of collagen as you age. Have a smoothie with green leafy vegetables and berries everyday!
3. Fermented foods and apple cider vinegar
Apple cider vinegar can improve blood flow and reduce triglyceride levels, which can lead to a healthy appearance. Because vinegar is a rich source of polyphenols, it helps to protect your cells from oxidation (making us age). Fermented foods such as sauerkraut and kombucha contain beneficial bacteria that help your gut control and keep the bad bacteria away. Add fermented foods to your plate daily and drink kombucha. Add 1 1/2 teaspoon apple cider vinegar in a glass of water, or mix with olive oil for a salad dressing.
4. Vitamin D
Vitamin D is important for renewal of your skin cells. If you have a deficiency of this vitamin, your skin may become frail and dry. Vitamin D promotes healthy cell activity and ensures that your skin, teeth and hair thrive. Due to prolonged darkness and lack of sun during the winter months, in the Northern Hemisphere, many suffer from deficiency of this vitamin. If you live in this region you may need supplementation of at least 2500 IU per day.
5. Organic and effective skin care products
It is important to use skin care products that are free of chemicals and toxins. I recommend The Organic Pharmacy or Esse products, they are wonderful and furthermore, environmentally friendly.
I challenge you now to try these recommendations for a week or two and see and feel the difference! Do not forget to drink more water, which is essential for glowing skin.

Johanna – Your Beauty Master!
